Title: This Is So Going To Work For Me

Pairing: Callie/Arizona, Mark
Summary: Just a little addition to 6x13
“This really isn’t going to work for me.” Arizona declares as I lay down. I take her hand in a gesture of solidarity and commiseration. Mark lying in bed next to me while Arizona and I are crammed on the edge of the bed like sardines was not my plan for tonight. Not even close. But what can I do? It’s Mark, and ya he’s acting like a teenage girl, but he stood by me through all of my drama this past year so I can’t just abandon him. Can I?... I sigh and shift onto my side, draping my arm around Arizona and placating myself with thoughts of all the sexy time we can spend in the shower tomorrow morning.
I’m almost asleep when I feel Arizona slip out from under my arm and get out of bed. Groggily I open my eyes at look at her in confusion. She’s tugged on a pair of sweat pants and is heading for the bedroom door.
“Ari?” I croak out. But she just closes the door behind her without responding. I sit up, worry beginning to gnaw at my gut. I know she heard me, and she isn’t headed to the bathroom or she wouldn’t have bothered with pants. Shaking my head in confusion I get up and follow Arizona.
Squinting as my eyes adjust to the brightness of the living room I can make out Arizona sitting on the couch. When I see that she has her coat on and is putting on her shoes I freeze in my tracks.
“Arizona what’s wrong? Did you get paged?” I ask uncertainly. Even as I ask her earlier words about this not working for her come back to me.
“Wait, don’t answer that. It’s Mark isn’t it? You’re leaving because of him?” I phrase it as a question but I already know the answer.
“I…I just can’t stay here tonight. I know he’s your friend, and I’m not telling you to kick him out because I know he’s been there for you, and I know you’re just being a good friend, but I…” She trails of in exasperation.
I hang my head in frustration and a bit of shame that I didn’t see this coming. I mean why would she be ok with Mark of all people spending the night in our bed? Before I get a chance to tell her that I get it she’s up and walking to wards the door. I want to stop her or to say something but my brain and my body don’t seem to be cooperating. Thankfully she pauses at the door to deliver a parting shot.
“He slept with you. I know it’s petty and silly but I just can’t lay in bed with your ex-sex buddy, it makes my skin crawl. I don’t exactly feel much better leaving the two of you in bed alone, especially after that stunt he pulled when you had the chicken pox, but I trust you.” She pauses, and I must look a little skeptical because she continues.
“I do trust you, I swear I do, but he slept with you and I just—” I cut her off before she can get any further.
“Wait, let me get this straight. I’m missing out on sexy time tonight, you’re leaving meaning I don’t get to spend the night holding you, and you won’t be here when I wake up so I’m going to miss out on sexy morning shower time too. And it’s all because of Mark?” I state with a mix of disbelief and disgust.
“Uh…” Arizona stutters, clearly caught off guard by my tone. I don’t give her a chance to compose herself though as I grab her hand and tug her after me as I walk back to the bedroom.
“Mark!” I yell after opening the door so hard I nearly yank it off its hinges.
“Ah!” He yells as he bolt upright.
“Get out.” I state simply.
“What? Torres what’s going on?” He asks in confusion.
“You are leaving, that’s what’s going on. You’re my best friend and I’m here for you no matter what, but when it cuts into my Arizona time enough is enough. Go home, or better yet go talk to Lexie and quit being such a girl.”
“Torres wha—”
“Now Mark.” I bark, cutting him off. He looks at me like I’ve grown a second head but he has enough sense to know that I mean business because he gets out of bed and picks up his shoes. He grumbles the whole time as I watch him tug on his shoes and leave the apartment. When the door clicks shut behind him I nod in satisfaction and turn to look at Arizona.
She’s staring at me with her mouth agape and shock written all over her face. Her expression is so priceless I can’t help but chuckle. I really wish I had a camera right now. Guiding her into my room I gently push her to sit on the bed before closing the door. Turning back to her I tenderly remove her coat and shoes and then crawl under the blankets, drawing her down and into my arms. It isn’t until a few minutes later the Arizona finally breaks out of her daze and speaks.
“Did that…What…What just happened?” she asks in awe.
“I picked my sexy girlfriend over my immature and hypocritical ex-man whore best friend.” I reply teasingly as I kiss her shoulder.
“Oh, is that what happened? So you’re just horny?” She teases back as she rolls over to face me.
“No.” I answer as begin kissing my way up her neck.
“Mmm….are you sure?” She moans.
“Very sure.” I murmur as I nibble her ear. “Don’t get me wrong I’m horny as hell, I always am around you, but that’s not why I kicked Mark out.” I add as I pull back so I can look her in the eye.
“It’s not?” She asks in surprise.
“No.” I laugh. “Mark being here in bed made you uncomfortable, that’s all I needed to know to kick him out. When it comes down to choosing between you, or anyone or anything else, there’s no choice for me. It’s you every time.” I tell her sincerely.
Suddenly I find myself pulled into a passionate kiss that has me grasping her body tightly to me as I desperately try to maintain some handle on reality. Gasping, I’m forced to break off the kiss out of a need for air. My body is on fire, and as I feel Arizona climb on top of me my temperature skyrockets even higher.
“You said something about sexy time?” She asks huskily as she pulls off her shirt and smirks down at me.
“This is so going to work for me.” I mumble as I pull her into another deep kiss.
